04.02.2024News

Cancer is the second most common cause of death in Europe, yet up to 40% of cases are preventable.

On 4 February 2000, the First World Cancer Summit of the New Millennium is held in Paris, where the Paris Charter against Cancer is adopted. The meeting also decided to celebrate 4 February as World Cancer Day – Detection, Treatment and Prevention.

Since then, every year, on this day, numerous campaigns are organized under the auspices of the International Union Against Cancer (UICC), uniting 280 cancer organizations in over 90 countries.

About 40% of cancers are potentially preventable. THE CAMPAIGN THAT TAKES PLACE EVERY YEAR focuses on how the risk of developing cancer can be significantly reduced through preventive measures:
– Stop tobacco use and avoid exposure to secondhand smoke
