The first in Bulgaria application for early diagnosis of thyroid disorders “Zashito” to help patients with this disease

The Association of those affected by thyroid diseases VIOM, in partnership with medical diagnostic laboratories “Kandilarov”, the digital platform “Femena.bg” and the Association “Women in Business and Professions Sofia”, launched an information and screening campaign. “ZaЩito” – your personal partner in thyroid health, to mark World Thyroid Day (25 May) and International Thyroid Week (25-31 May). The planned initiatives in the Bulgarian campaign are in line with the International Thyroid Week motto “Thyroid and AI”, with the main focus on the role that artificial intelligence (AI) has in improving the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases.

This year’s initiatives will include the presentation of the first app created in Bulgaria to help patients with thyroid problems “ZaShito”, which is completely free for Android and iOS, and which focuses on providing comprehensive services for this type of users. The app contains self-assessment tests for the risk of thyroid diseases; medical information in accessible language; data on specialists, clinics, etc. The app will aim to provide people with the opportunity to quickly and easily make an early primary diagnosis of thyroid function abnormalities on their own, given that self-monitoring is an important element in the early diagnosis of this type of disease, to refer themselves to the necessary specialist, thus saving time and effort, and at the same time enabling a better outcome from the disease.

Within the campaign, in June, open days are planned in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo and Targovishte, which will be realized in different locations of the SMDL “Kandilarov”, during which free thyroid ultrasound examinations and consultation with an endocrinologist will be held. As part of the campaign, Kandilarov Laboratory, as an official partner of the VIM Association, will provide visitors with diagnostic packages at discounted prices of hormones with a free marker included as part of the thyroid laboratory examination for the campaign period from 26-30.06.25. Examinations as part of the campaign will be by appointment only.
