ALEX Allergy Combination Test (295 allergens)
PROMOTIONAL PRICE UNTIL THE END OF SEPTEMBER – 360 BGN.
The ALEX test is the first multiplex in vitro allergy test to simultaneously measure total IgE (tIgE) and specific IgE (sIgE) to multiple allergen extracts and molecular allergens. It includes a total of 295 tests covering 165 different natural allergens (more than 100 allergen extracts and over 150 molecular allergens – pollen, mould, fungi associated with atopic dermatitis and other skin diseases – mites, pets, insects and a range of foods), complemented by total IgE.
The test can cover more than 99% of the allergens required for routine diagnosis.
One of the key features of the ALEX multi-component assay is the presence of a potent inhibitor of cross-reactive carbohydrate determinants (CCD). This inhibitor interacts with the serum and provides the most accurate quantitative results for specific IgE levels in the patient’s blood. This feature of the ALEX test ensures correct and accurate interpretation of results in patients and increases the specificity of the method.
When should the ALEX test be administered and for whom is it intended?
- Children and adult patients with allergies, as well as with polysensitivity.
- For children and adults with food allergies, as it enables accurate recommendations on the consumption of certain foods and prevents severe systemic allergic reactions to food products.
- People allergic to pollens and household allergens, for correct choice of treatment (AIT) and prediction of its efficacy.
- To determine true and cross allergies.
- To predict the development of allergies in young children and adults.
- Patients already taking AIT to determine the cause of its ineffectiveness.
Alex is indicated for patients who have the following symptoms:
- Runny nose, stuffy nose, itchy nose.
- Coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath.
- Itching in the eyes, redness of the eyelids.
- Seasonal pollen allergy.
- Allergies to animals.
- Rash and itching on the skin.
- Hives, swelling of the lips, ears, eyes.
- Anaphylactic shock after eating food or being stung by a wasp or bee.
From what age?
From 6 months of age or earlier if necessary.
Food allergies most often occur before the age of one year, when additional foods are introduced. Before the additional feeding, you may be allergic to foods based on cow’s milk protein.
How can ALEX change its performance with age?
ALEX test results can change with age. Food allergies are most common by 2-3 years of age. After 2 years of age, the spectrum of sensitivity to allergens may broaden and allergies to pollen, animal dander, dust, molds may occur.
